White Rod Bear 1904

This very rare white Steiff PB 28 rod bear dates precisely to 1904. He no longer retains his elephant button and would originally have had a gutta percha nose. The original pink mouth stitching remains and he wears a stunning antique outfit that has been with him for many years along with accessories. Roddy, as he is affectionately known, is one of the earliest bears produced by Steiff. He has large boot button eyes and a horizontal seam from ear to ear. With swivel head, rod jointed limbs and five claws on each paw, it is wonderful to think this bear has been around for 120 years! Roddy has small holes to the muzzle and foot pads with repairs to the paw pads and a repair to the right wrist.
