This cute little Silberstein teddy dates c1907 and he has heaps of character! In totally original condition with trademark velveteen nose/paws and the smallest size made by this German manufacturer at just 9.5" tall. Ted has a good covering of golden mohair with a non-working squeaker in his tum. He is fully jointed and filled with wood wool, dressed as he came to us. There is a small repair to the back of his head and the back seam is restitched. Please enquire for more details ...
Heinrich Silberstein began manufacturing jointed teddy bears in 1906. Steiff tried to take legal action against the company because they claimed a bear with movable limbs was their own invention. However, many other manufacturers also begain producing this type of teddy bear and the Steiff monopoly was broken
